CSUSB, Master's in Counseling

Hello, I'm Yarely Tamayo, a mental health therapist with a passion for supporting adolescents, as they navigate the challenges of mental and emotional well-being. My work focuses on helping adolescents build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and manage the complexities of growing up in today’s world. I take a client-centered approach to therapy, combining evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and strength-based strategies to empower my clients. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and supported as they work toward personal growth and emotional balance. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy maintaining an active lifestyle through regular workouts, spending time in nature, and reading. These hobbies help me stay grounded and energized, and I believe that self-care is an essential part of overall well-being. It’s a privilege to support my clients on their journey toward healing and self-discovery, and I am dedicated to helping individuals and families make meaningful, lasting changes. My ideal client is an adolescent who is navigating the turbulence of growing up in today’s world, feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of school, social dynamics, family expectations, and their own internal struggles. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, or self-esteem issues, and often feel isolated or misunderstood. They might be uncertain about their identity, have difficulty expressing their emotions, or face challenges in forming healthy relationships. My ideal client wants to feel understood, less overwhelmed by life’s challenges, and more in control of their emotional world. They long for a sense of stability, inner peace, and self-confidence. They want to make better decisions, manage stress in healthier ways, and improve their relationships with those they care about. Ultimately, they want to be able to navigate the ups and downs of life with greater ease, resilience, and self-compassion. I can provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where they feel heard and validated. Using a mix of evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, and strength-based strategies, I can help them develop healthier thinking patterns, emotional regulation skills, and coping strategies for managing stress and anxiety. Together, we can work on improving self-esteem, building stronger relationships, and creating a toolkit of strategies they can use to face life's challenges with more confidence and resilience. My goal is to empower them to discover their own strengths and develop a deeper sense of self-understanding, so they can thrive both emotionally and relationally.
