Lesley University, Masters in Expressive Therapies and Mental Health Counseling

Wong, in my Chinese last name, means yellow - the color of light. I believe a therapist's role is to bring light for clients to see for themselves what's in front of them in order to choose or make the next move in their life situations. I enjoy this role of witnessing clients self-discovery journeys while facilitating and providing support in the process. My clinical training was in Expressive Therapies (music) and mental health counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) as well as a nationally board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) with an expressive-arts-therapy-based approach. I have worked with clients from age 0-100+ and I found learning moments in serving every population. I worked with children and families in early childhood intervention programs, school-aged individuals in a community counseling program, students with special needs, teenagers in intensive residential treatment, adults with disabilities, older adults with age-related issues, and families needing end-of-life emotional support. I have learned many counseling/therapy skills and embraced the arts in healing. I am a therapist with an integrative approach. I like to invite my clients to explore their own creative expressions. A fun fact about me: growing up in British colonial Hong Kong, I learned the concept of "ambivalence" (two cultures, two languages) and therefore I can relate to the "stuck in-between things" feeling, which can be common amongst teens, quite well. Outside of my Daybreak time, I love reading an actual book, seeing the colors green, orange, yellow in nature, listening to music in a different language, biking uphill then down, and hugging all the important people in my life.
