Hello! My name is Maryan Edin! I'm a licensed Mental health counselor(LMHC) practicing and living in the beautiful PNW! Born in Somalia and raised in the evergreen state of Washington. Like many others, my personal experiences of war, cultural and racial hardships, and emotional trauma brought me into the mental health field. My experience helped me to understand why mental health is essential and what has kept me in the field for five years so far. The bread and butter of my focus is on children and adolescents with some family work. I am a foodie at heart and love learning how to cook new meals, keeping up with new shows and movies, and spending quality time with those I love. I know what it feels like to have people not understand you, and I know what it feels like when things are spiraling out of control. This is normal, and these things can be approached in many ways. With cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) as a guide, we will tailor your sessions to your therapeutic needs. Taking steps to therapy is both courageous and brave! Whether you are navigating a difficult life transition, relationships, or hard dynamics or simply wanting to learn coping strategies, I'm here to help you find your inner strength and help you be the best version of yourself! Together, we can work towards greater self-awareness, resilience, and the tools you need to overcome life's challenges! We'll move at your pace. There is no pressure, only encouragement to keep pushing. I will provide crisis and safety planning and support as needed. As a black Muslim Somali American, I understand and appreciate the intricacies of being a human and the different identities we hold. I know we're unique and different in our own way, and we're all worthy: worthy of love, acceptance, validation, and support.
