What I love most about working with young people is being able to support them in their goals, being a trusted sounding board for them, and helping them to reach their full potential. I like to explain to teens how their brain development plays a role in how they emotionally feel at times or react to certain situations. This helps to normalize the teenage experience and understand what they are going through on a daily basis. I have worked with teens 1:1 in my own practice and have also led school-based teams to provide mental health services in school settings, supporting the sociaal and emotional needs of students including conflict resolution, familial issues, stage of life issues, substance abuse, LGBTQ+, peer relationship issues, IEP support, and more. As an experienced coach, I also use real-life scenarios to help process therapeutic goals. It’s such a fun experience when you see a teen have that “aha” moment. I am bilingual and work with kids in both English and Spanish.
