In my pursue of a professional career I was certain of one thing; returning to my community and helping young adults who grew up in the same low socioeconomic environment I did. As a first generation Mexican American I understand the struggles that come with assimilating to a new culture, balancing personal needs and desires and that of our parents, and accepting that we are worthy of all the benefits that come with pursuing and obtaining a higher level education. For me that includes, disposable income to spend doing one of my favorite things, thrifting I enjoy the thrill of the hunt and finding unique treasure. It also includes having time to be outside, hiking and taking walks with my golden retriever, Rosie, and feisty chihuahua Lyla.
