Mariajose Castellanos

University of Southern California, Master of Social Work

I graduated from the Univerisity of Southern California with a Master’s in Social Work. I have seven years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families at the Los Angeles Unified School District and Child and Family Guidance Center, most recently in the Juvenile Justice program. I have provided clinical therapy in the outpatient and residential setting, treating trauma, anxiety, and depression. Besides providing therapy services, I enjoy hiking, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family. With passion, dedication, and a collaborative approach, therapy is a powerful tool that can improve the quality of life. My goal early in treatment is to establish a relationship focused on trust, honesty, and compassion to develop a comfortable experience for my clients. Most importantly, I approach my work with kindness and warmth to create a safe space to encourage growth for my clients. I specialize in working with children and adults to treat anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, relationships, and grief and help young professionals experiencing work stress or life transitions. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and a psychodynamic approach to help clients overcome life obstacles.
