Hi, I'm Aliyah (she/her)! I'm an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor and I have a Master's degree in Child Development with a concentration on Early Childhood Mental Health from San Diego State University. I've always loved working with children in their families. Before I became a therapist, I was a preschool teacher. I have worked with children in an educational setting amongst a diverse population. In that setting, I have an experience that spans from teaching to developing and implementing behavior support plans. I have created and executed early childhood curriculum as well as assisted parents in developing behavior support plans that can be utilized at school and home. This has exposed me to different family dynamics, and the unique challenges each family may face. It has led me to learn about reflective supervision, restorative practices, trauma sensitivity, and what it means to be culturally competent. I pursued a career in the mental health field because of my what I've been exposed to growing up and the need to support the voices of the unheard. When I'm not working as a therapist, I'm attending pilates classes, reading books, eating new foods and traveling.
