I decided to become a counselor after trying a few different career paths. I was previously a nursing assistant, teacher’s assistant, and a teacher. I tried other careers to get to know myself better while giving back and making a difference in people's lives. As a therapist/counselor, my goal is to equip people with skills and tools to work through personal issues to help them have a better life. I understand how scary the idea of counseling can be. I first attended counseling as a client after my grandmother passed while I was in college. Counseling brought clarity to the grief I was facing and the childhood trauma I had not dealt with. This was a difficult decision that I am grateful I took as it helped me become a better student, sister, friend, and person. As a therapist/counselor, my goal is to equip people with skills and tools to work through personal issues to help them have a better life.
