Hi, I鈥檓 Rina Villanueva, LPC-Associate. I was born and raised in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, and my passion for mental health advocacy has been shaped by my experiences in education, healthcare administration, and behavioral health support. My goal as a counselor is to create a space where you feel heard, valued, and supported as you navigate life鈥檚 challenges. Outside of my work, I enjoy the arts, watching series and films, and spending quality time with my family. A fun fact about me is that I have a lifelong fear of dogs. When I was a child, I was attacked by a dog, which led to surgery on my face. That experience taught me firsthand how trauma can stay with us, shaping our emotions and responses. It also helped me understand the importance of healing, resilience, and finding ways to regain a sense of security. I bring that same understanding into my counseling approach, recognizing that everyone鈥檚 journey is unique, and healing looks different for each person. I look forward to working with you and supporting you on your path to wellness. Hi, I鈥檓 Rina Villanueva, LPC-A, and I understand how overwhelming life can feel when anxiety, depression, or negative self-talk take hold. If you鈥檝e been struggling with these challenges, I want you to know that you鈥檙e not alone. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to navigate life鈥檚 difficulties. I specialize in working with youth at the secondary level, drawing from my many years of experience in education. I know that adolescence and young adulthood come with unique struggles鈥攂alancing responsibilities, self-discovery, relationships, and the pressures of daily life. Whether you鈥檙e battling self-doubt, feeling stuck, or simply needing someone to truly listen, I am here to walk alongside you, helping you find clarity and confidence. I believe therapy isn鈥檛 about giving advice; it鈥檚 about guiding you to uncover your own strengths and solutions. My role is to validate your experiences when appropriate, offer new perspectives, and gently challenge negative patterns that may be holding you back. Together, we鈥檒l work toward your goals at a pace that feels right for you. If you find joy in the arts鈥攚hether it鈥檚 painting, crafting, coloring, or creating鈥擨 encourage you to bring that passion into our work. Expressing ourselves through creativity can be a powerful tool for self-reflection and healing. Reaching out for help takes courage, and I want you to know that you are welcome here. I would be honored to support you on your journey toward growth and well-being.
