I have over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults as a Social Worker, Researcher and Assistant Professor. I previously worked with young children and adolescents who had experienced trauma from civil war, who were also recent immigrants experiencing challenges at school. Some of the approaches I used were Play therapy, Narrative therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. As an assistant professor I taught graduate level Social Workers and Early childhood teachers. I identify as a Black, immigrant woman and this informs my work and approach towards healing. Fun fact about me I speak three languages, and I love cooking. There are times when life feels very stressful, dark, and challenging especially when we experience challenges in our friendships and relationships, or challenges at school with peers, teachers and academic performance. We may feel sad, angry, low, irritable, moody, hate ourselves and those around us and feel other strong emotions with no way of coping and managing those feelings. Take a step towards healing the pain and reaching out to me for support. I will walk with you on your journey towards healing. I have experience working with young people struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, academic performance, racial identity, grief, and immigrant cultural adjustment.
