USC, Masters of Social Work

Hello, my name is Bertha Silva, I am a bilingual (Spanish and English) Associate Clinical Social Worker. I chose to become a mental health clinician because we all benefit from talking to someone. My goal is to create a safe space and allow all of my patients to speak comfortably and freely. I have been working with children, adolescents, LGBTQ+, and transitional age youth for the past 20 years. From residential homes, child protective services, behavioral health, to recently in the educational settings. I am family oriented and enjoy the company of my husband, my two sons, parents, siblings, niece and nephews. I have five dogs (2 Dobermans/ 3 chihuahuas) and one parrot. I love to hike, workout, and go to the beach. Many of my patients have struggled with grief, anxiety, depression, self-harming, body dysphoria, eating disorders, bipolar, BPD, ADHD, PTSD, and Audio/Visual Hallucinations. Each patient is different, have different timelines, and goals are catered to meet their needs. Whether it鈥檚 learning how to problem solve, reframing cognitive thoughts by utilizing DBT/or CBT, and or the importance of learning how to utilize coping skills. It is important to understand that entering therapy is a huge step in moving forward but at the same time it can be super scary. Everything takes time and that is something people tend to forget. Be kind to yourself, as there is so much beauty in this world that many people forget to appreciate the simplest things.
