CSU Sacramento: Master's in Counseling

I received my Master's in Counseling specializing in School Counseling and Marriage Family Therapy. I have spent the majority of my career working with adolescents in the high school setting and now enjoy working as a full time therapist in the school setting servicing ages 12-18. I enjoy spending my time in my community. I have a non-profit that supports students in the community that I grew up in and still live in. It is my passion to help adolescents achieve their dreams mentally, educationally and in their careers. It is important to me to give back to the place that I grew up in because it is a small rural town that is disconnected from other cities. I am a resourceful person and enjoy educating others about the mental health struggles that our youth are facing and provide resources to help. Let's face it, we all go through rough patches in our lives. With over 18 years of experience working with children, adolescents and young adults I have gained an appreciation for the unique challenges that happen during transitional times. I help my clients explore their challenges and gain an understanding of why they might be experiencing certain struggles. I am the type of therapist that offers a safe and comfortable environment that provides insight on why certain behaviors or thoughts might be occurring. Together, through an honest lens, I offer support and insight towards a healthier and more functional life. I have spent most of tenure working with teenagers and young adults in a school setting. I understand the complexity of the emotions that the young population is experiencing and I can help make sense of it all. A therapeutic relationship is built on trust and creating an environment where being vulnerable feels ok is my main priority.
